Me Again...

Right I'm back with a bang! Well a bunch of tea bags and a few ideas. I have well and truly been out of the blogosphere for a good few months and whilst I've bought a few new products, OK I tell a lie, a LOT of new products I haven't really had the drive to sit at my laptop and put finger to keyboard; as it were.

One of the main reasons I have shied away from writing is because the thing I want to write about most is fashion and the outfits I have put together, however my ongoing battle with my weight has left me more than a little camera-shy.

So the new inspiration for this little burst of writing?

In three short weeks I shall be boarding a plane with three... how to put it? Well kept? Boys. Lol basically they look good and I am frantically trying to sort out my beach bod so I don't look like the dumpling floating in the pool. Of course I know there is no miracle cure for a gigantic arse and bingo wings which have a mind of their own. Consequently I have been running twice weekly and going to the gym once a week with a friend, but my sister suggested I try out the new fad that everyone is going on about- 'Bootea'. I thought instead of hiding away the fact that I'm trying to lose weight I should embrace it and share my stories and experiences with others as I complete the 14 DAY TEATOX.

The idea behind the teatox is that you have one of the daytime teabags every morning and one of the night time every other evening. [I have been warned by my sister to watch out for the evening teabags the next day as they produce quite a profuse laxative effect]... Can't wait ...

Now I'm not a great lover of tea, in fact I find it repulsive, so you can imagine my enthusiasm and excitement at the prospect of drinking the stuff every day, it sort of tastes like a green tea but even so I'm not a convert, yet. The night time cleanse is infused with lots of mint and you'd think this would make it tastier. It doesn't. The evening tea is pretty vile but I will power through in the name self confidence and, I suppose you could say, vanity, but whatever. Let me know if you want to hear all the gory details of the night time cleanse, it supposedly takes 12 hours to kick in so I tried to time it so I wouldn't be at work haha.

This week I downloaded Lana Del Rey's latest album Ultraviolence and I've absolutely been loving it. My favourite track off it so far has got to be West Coast. It's so laid back and I can't wait to be sitting by our pool in Malta sipping a mojito and listening to this! Perfection!

Oh Hello Flawless!

Oh my god it has been absolutely ages since I last posted but I have been extremely busy settling into my new job whilst also trying to balance and co-ordinate the hours of my old job. Despite all the juggling and lack of sleep, I am enjoying it loads and am actually finding that once I get into a routine I'll probably have a lot more time to do things instead of spending all day sleeping and working all night, so it's all good and exciting.

I thought this week I'd do a post on my favourite make up brand (it was only a matter of time). As my close friends know, I am obsessed with and a devout addict of Benefit make up. All through uni whilst my friends were saving pennies to buy books and food, I'd be saving to expand my collection of Benefit products and it paid off; I think I'm up to about fifteen products and I have no intention of stopping.

So the product I have chosen to review is the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! foundation.

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! £25.50

I ummed and arred over whether or not I should take the plunge but since it was my birthday in January I thought why not? And decided to treat myself using some of my birthday dollar.

The Claim:
Our new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion you can believe in. It's you...just more luminous & healthy looking.

[Taken from the Benefit website]

So what can I say about this product? Well, as always the packaging is as intriguing, if not more dare I say, than the actual product inside. It is simplistic and to the point about the foundation, it features a more contemporary design than we are used to in comparison with Benefit's usually retro style. However this by no means deterred me from the product itself at all; never judge a book by its cover...

The lady at the concession matched me to 'Believe in me IVORY', which I have to admit is a perfect shade for me. I have quite a rosy complexion and I sometimes find it difficult to match my foundation to it as I can go from quite to very pink in the face easily. It's great -_- The foundation itself is smooth and silky and goes on a dream with my Real Techniques Stippling Brush, I buff it in in concentric circles and it does even out my skin tone. That's what a foundation should do right? However I do find that to get a really decent coverage over problem areas I would need two layers as the foundation is quite thin.

Another thing that leaves a lot to be desired is the setting period; that time between applying your foundation and being able to touch your face without your hands coming away caked in the stuff. This foundation takes ABSOLUTELY AGES TO SET, if I'm honest I'm not even sure if it ever really does. You have to really work it into the skin and I always use the Hello Flawless! powder straight after to seal it in.

Overall I do like this product, I'm not in love with it like I am with Benefit's BrowZings or their Porefessional, but I can see it growing on me. Especially in the summer months when I'm looking for something more of a tinted moisturiser rather than heavy coverage. As for the price... Well I think most of the money has gone into the design of the packaging rather than the foundation itself (sorry Benefit!) and I'd say, with great reluctance, that perhaps in this instance you are paying more for the label than the actual product.

Anyone else tried out this foundation? What were your thoughts on it? I'd love to hear if you'd had a positive experience with it, as I hate putting a black mark against my beloved Benefit's name haha.

Winter Wishlist

Right now I am very much embracing my 90's grunge teen and have in fact recently purchased my own pair of "Mum Jeans", which to my delight my mum insisted on telling (on numerous occasions) that she used to own back in the 90's. I then went on to explain that they were actually called "Mum Jeans" and were actually based on the jeans that mums used to wear in the 90's. You'd think that would have cleared it all up but no, every time I don them for a casual day my mum pulls out the line, "I had a pair just like that when you were growing up." Yes mum I get it.

On to the wishlist then...

Before I start I just want to put it out there that if anyone would be so kind as to buy me these items I will love you forever and pay you in home-made cookies and Thai fish cakes (my specialities FYI).

1. Lena Parental Print T-Shirt Dress in Black
    £16.99 Missguided
A lot of the time I have to wear black for work (I work in a bar most days) and so I am very limited in what I can wear. Sure there are no shortage of black clothes, but I don't want to simply wear black jeans and a black t-shirt like most of my co-workers do. I want to add a bit of my own style to it and this t-shirt dress allows me to. I'd probably style it up with some black knee-high socks, a big gold chain and creepers or my Jeffrey Campbell red velvet Slingin Boots.
2. Enchanted Ring
    £32.00 Shop Dixi
This beaut of a ring just came onto the Shop Dixi website and of course, like all of their stuff, I want it. It's so unusual and sort of resembles a snake I think. Just need to save a few pennies before I can splash out again.
3.Louise Lace Cami Slip Dress in Peach
   £29.99 Missguided
So apparently the whole wearing your underwear as outerwear is back in, except this time we're flashing our slips. I really love this dress and think it taps into the trend subtly. I would definitely either rock it up with my Docs and a black leather jacket or go for soft look with a floral kimono and maybe tan sandals or wedges in the summer.
4. Blue Palm Print Jacquard Skort
    £36.00 Topshop
I do love a skort and think its an eclectic way to jazz up an outfit especially with this print, which is reminiscent of a Hawaiian shirt, which I totally adore. I am a Hawaiian shirt addict. Anyway I think this would look cool with a plain white tee, maybe a blazer or a light denim jacket.
5. The Aggy by Agyness Deyn X Dr Marten
    £140 Solestruck
As far as I know these are sold out everywhere, so I'm keeping a close eye on the ebay listings. I already own two pairs of docs, but since I do have an obsession with platforms and creepers it just seems silly (probably only to me) that I don't own these platform docs, which combines my love of both styles.
6. Moonstone Poison Box Ring
    £32.00 Shop Dixi
I have wanted this ring ever since it came onto the site, however every time I went to buy it it was sold out and then when it came back in stock; I was broke. I think it's actually sold out again but I love it so much it has to be on my wishlist.

OK so that concludes my current wishlist, the actual one is a whole longer but I thought I wouldn't bore you completely with me moaning endlessly about all the things I can't afford haha. Anything major you're saving towards or just constantly lusting over?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11717541/?claim=wv7v2g6ajxc">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

The T.M.I. Tag

The T.M.I. Tag seems to be circulating on the blogging and YouTubing circuit, so I thought as someone new to the scene this would be the ideal follow up to my last post.

So here it goes, hope it's not too much information for y'all ;)

1: What are you wearing?
An oversized pink vest from Topshop and fairisle pyjama bottoms
2: Ever been in love?
Yes, twice.
3: Ever had a terrible breakup?
Yep, I've had one really traumatic break up and another one which was pretty terrible.
4: How tall are you?
5'2"
5: How much do you weigh?
Arrrrgh, I don't want to say, but I will say I'm a curvy girl lol.
6: Any tattoos?
YES. I'm obsessed with tattoos. I have 7 and I'm planning more. I have both my feet done, my ribs, my wrist, the inside of my elbow, my shoulder and my latest is one my friend gave me when we were drunk. It's on the inside of my foot and is 3 (wobbly) lines. HE IS NOT A TATTOOIST. Clearly -_- haha
7: Any piercings?
Yep. I have 9 piercings. One cartilage piercing, one tragus piercing and two normal lobe piercings on my left ear. Two cartilage piercings and two lobe piercings on right ear, one nose piercing and I also have my tongue done.
8: OTP?
Errm if you'd asked me this a year ago I would have said yes without hesitation, but since going through a pretty difficult break up and losing the person I thought was my soulmate I'm a bit more cynical. Part of me still holds on to the fact that that person might be my OTP and will come back to me but the other part of me says, fuck em there's no such thing.
9: Favorite Show?
American Horror Story
10: Favorite bands?
The Smiths, ALt-J, Swim Deep, Florence and the Machine, Snakadaktal, Daughter, I could go on...
11: Something you miss?
Being young and carefree.
12: Favorite song?
Ok I couldn't narrow it to one so I chose four.
The Smiths- This Charming Man
Alt-J- Dissolve Me/Matilda
Florence and the Machine- Cosmic Love
13: How old are you?
22, Christ
14: Zodiac sign?
Capricorn
15: Quality you look for in a partner?
Good sense of humour, a relaxed air about them.
16: Favourite Quote?
"We're all mad here" It's from Alice in Wonderland, it was my favourite book as a child and I loved the Cheshire Cat who said his line. I actually have this tattooed on me.
17: Favourite actor?
Leonardo DiCaprio (I know, what a cliché) but I do actually think he's an amazing actor especially in Blood Diamond.
Can't forget Shia LaBeouf- MEGA CRUSH ON HIM.
18: Favourite color?
Probably purple. Most of room is purple, plus I have lavender hair.
19: Loud music or soft?
Totally depends on my mood. If I'm in a mood I like soft depressing music but most of the time I love blaring out tunes and singing along to them, much to the annoyance of my family haha.
20: Where do you go when you’re sad?
When I lived in Brighton, I went to the beach and would just sit there with my headphones and a book. Now I'm back in London I'll probably just sulk in my bed and go for a run to distract myself.
21: How long does it take you to shower?
10 minutes
22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
If I'm showering as well then an hour because I'll have to blow dry my hair and everything. Otherwise it's normally about 35-40 minutes... How specific lol.
23: Ever been in a physical fight?
Errm yes kind of. It was more my friend but you know when you're drunk and you think you can help. Yeah don't think I was much help.
24: Turn on?
In terms of a personality, someone who is pretty confident and funny attracts me. Physically I love a muscly back and the veins guys get in their forearms. I also like it if a guy bites my neck. lol TMI?
25: Turn off?
Attention seeker, someone who likes drama, someone who criticises everything around them but doesn't look at themselves.
26: The reason I started blogging?
I studied English at university and I've always loved writing. I decided I was fed up of just reading other people's blogs and decided I wanted to get myself out there.
27: Fears?
Spiders, bananas, being rejected, ending up alone lol.
28: Last thing that made you cry?
Speaking to an ex.
29: Last time you said you loved someone?
About 3 hours ago to my mum.
30: Meaning behind your blog name?
It's taken from the title of one of my favourite poetry books by Andrea Gibson.
31: Last book you read?
Out by Natsuo Kirino.
32: The book you’re currently reading?
I'm reading "The Madness Vase" by Andrea Gibson, it's a collection of her poems.
33: Last show you watched?
The Carrie Diaries haha have to admit I love it. :)
34: Last person you talked to?
My best friend.
35: The relationship between you and the person you last texted?
My best friend. We lived together for three years at university and we constantly text. She only lives ten minutes away from me now haha, but we've always got something to say.
36: Favorite food?
Ice cream, pizza or curry lol. Or Leerdammer cheese, I fucking love that stuff.

Raspberry.
43: What instruments do you play?
Piano and Clarinet, don't know how well I'd do on the clarinet anymore but I can still play the piano.
44: Favourite piece of jewellery?
My Michael Kors gold watch or this one off silver ring with an inverted purple stone I bought in Sicily.
45: Last sport you played?
Errrr... I went running the other day... Does that count?
46: Last song you sang?
Cracks by Freestylers (Flux Pavilion Remix)
47: Favourite chat up line?
"Don't be afraid if a fat man with a white beard and in a red suit grabs you and puts you in a bag... I told Father Christmas I wanted you for Christmas."
"This tea isn't sweet enough, put your finger in it for me please."
48: Have you ever used it?
As a joke on my friend we try out the funny chat up lines we hear and laugh at their ridiculousness. (He's probably actually writing them down and using them on girls haha)
49: Last time you hung out with anyone?
Last night.
50: Who should answer these questions next?
I'm going to tag anyone who reads this blog. There are a lot of new bloggers like me out there who won't have other bloggers tagging them. So if you've read this and you have a blog or you're thinking of starting one, I TAG YOU. YES YOU :P

I hope you enjoyed this post and have got to know me a bit more. I hope my weird fear of bananas didn't freak you out (it's a real thing ok lol). Maybe leave some fun facts about yourself in the comments that could be considered TMI. I frigging love hearing that sort of thing. In  my world there is no such thing as too much information. Ask my friends... They hate it hahaha

The Beginning

Hi,

So I have been procrastinating for years about starting a blog and tonight at 2.30 in the morning I have finally given in to said procrastination and done it. I'm not really sure where exactly one starts when beginning their blog, I don't suppose there is a massively wrong or right way to it and for that reason I'll start by introducing myself and my blog. Can't really go wrong there can I?

We'll see...

I'm Kat, a 22 year old girl from London (Christ that's reminiscent of the old MSN days where we'd always start a conversation with "ASL?"). ASL, in case you were wondering, stands for Age, Sex, Location. I have recently finished university and moved from Brighton back to London, and am now adjusting to life living under the same roof as the mother. I'm currently occupying two jobs, although a replacement third one is on the way, for now I am enjoying the high life of working for an events company and at a bar, which despite the antisocial hours, I absolutely adore.

My interests include the usual:
- hanging out with friends
- MAKE UP/PERFUME/JEWELLERY (in particular rings)
- TATTOOS (I have six and I'm not done yet)
- going to gigs/music
- reading
- SLEEPING
- poetry (any poetry fans might notice the poetry reference in my blog name, but I'll address that in a separate post)
- American Horror Story (sorry I'm addicted)

Onto the blog...

My blog will predominantly centre around fashion, make up reviews and lifestyle posts, although from time to time I may do some literature reviews or just whatever I fancy talking about. For me writing this blog is a place for me to develop my voice and hopefully some of y'all will want to listen.

I guess I'll leave it there and get thinking on a few ideas for my first proper post.
